China is a large country with a lot of people in it. It will soon pass the United States as an economic and political superpower. People in China already have faster internet and better cell phones than people in America, but seem to lack the cultural sophistication cultivated in European and American cities. The purpose of this website is to provide a somewhat objective sampling of fashion in Beijing in the hope that a superficial observation of clothing trends might not only reflect the changing tastes of its citizens but also the hidden economic and historical connections of cultural production currently spreading in China.
